We’ve had a fun and exciting week exploring the Pacific Northwest. Specifically, we explored Seattle WA, Portland OR, Mt. Saint Helens, and enjoyed a weekend at a beach house in Depoe Bay, OR. View my gallery of happy snappies or read more for the full report.

We just got back from a weeklong trip to Orlando, FL. Highlights included the Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM/Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. We had lunch in the Disney community of Celebration, and also visited the non-Disney Gatorland and Sea World. A more thorough writeup of the trip will be posted soon. In the meantime, […]

Family Vacation: White Mountains Region of New Hampshire

WHEN we planned this trip originally, we thought we would bring the popup camper. But after Cape Cod, we decided that it might be too much of a strain on the Soob to pull the trailer through the mountains. It was hard enough on the vehicle for it to pull the popup for a short […]

Cape Cod Part II: Province Lands
I’ve wanted to bike the Province Lands Bike Trail since our first trip to Cape Cod over 10 years ago. This week I finally got my chance. With Son in the Trail-A-Bike, the two of us rode across some spectacular scenery.

Son had a really spectacular time. He […]

Yes, that’s the whole family in the canoe, paddling Cliff Pond at Nickerson State Park.
Here’s Son getting all tied up:
Daughter picked a water lily […]

Cape Cod whalewatching
August 12th, 2006 · 1 Comment
As our final adventure of the Cape Cod trip, we took a whalewatching cruise with Dolphin Fleet of Provincetown. I’ve been whalewatching three times previously, twice from Provincetown and once from Nova Scotia. Each trip offered tantalizing glimpses of the mighty giants, awesome in their wild freedom but always mysterious, distant glimpses. After all, whales […]

Cape Cod day-by-day

Day 5: Wednesday
Wednesday was one of our most relaxed and enjoyable days. We basically hung out at the pond behind our rental cabin. The kids searched for frogs, we rowed around in a little rowboat, splashed, dug, swam. In the evening we had our first-ever family game of mini-golf. Mini-golf seems almost as ubiquitous on […]

Cape Cod day-by-day

Cape cod. We’re setting off for “the Cape” for a week. There’s actually a fabulous wealth of activities to do with kids on the Cape, so we have no worry of getting bored. I made reservations for a Monday canoe trip with a naturalist at the Cape Cod National Seashore with Daughter, but otherwise we […]
