This is a page from a catalog for a CD duplication service. Oddly, the photo is of me, but the text comes (supposedly) from one Kevin Eisensmith, who is apparently a faculty member in the Music Department at a University in Pennsylvania. Why they didn’t use a photo of Kevin I don’t know, presumably as a musician he has headshots readily available. Instead, they used a stock photo for the testimonial, which is actually a license violation (section 4.a.7.i of the agreement prohibits “use or display any Content that features a model or person in a manner that (i) would lead a reasonable person to think that such person uses or personally endorses any business, product, service, cause, association or other endeavour”). Or maybe Kevin is in the habit of sending out photos of me for his headshots (just kidding)! Of course, in today’s world you can’t publish an iStock image without somebody finding out about it.

Update: I sent a message to Dr. Eisensmith and he replied with good humor. He even sent me a photo of himself surrounded by trumpets. I think it’s a more creative photo than the one they actually used.

Ken,
Just a note to let you know that I visit your site with some regularity and always enjoy your photos and observations.
I find it interesting that you should prefer US State governors to be Federal presidents. Just off the cuff, I can’t think of another ex-governor I would count as best leading our country than President Clinton. The rest seem to me to be ineffectual and, just now, disaterous.
So I ask, who else do you have in mind? Wilson, Carter, Reagan? (I just know you do not mean any Taft, nor a Bush.)
Respectfully submitted,
Richard
