Cape Cod day-by-day

Day 5: Wednesday

Wednesday was one of our most relaxed and enjoyable days. We basically hung out at the pond behind our rental cabin. The kids searched for frogs, we rowed around in a little rowboat, splashed, dug, swam. In the evening we had our first-ever family game of mini-golf. Mini-golf seems almost as ubiquitous on the Cape as ice cream!

Day 6: Thursday

We headed toward Chatham for some bicycling and touring. Checked out the train station museum, the Chatham Lighthouse, and had a picnic lunch in a little town square. Of particular note is the playground directly across the street from the Chatham Railroad Museum on Depot Road. This is a magnificent, sprawling wooden playground built as a giant fortress, with various nooks and hideyholes for the kids to explore. My kids absolutely loved this, they spent about two hours running and playing in the hot afternoon sun.

Day 7: Friday

This became our drive-around touring day. We hiked the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail, flew a kite at Mayo Beach in Wellfleet, and climbed the tower to the top of Highland Light in Truro. Daughter was just barely tall enough to be allowed into the light, and she managed a difficult climb with aplomb.
